Author Guidelines

Welcome to Jotter Press! We are dedicated to publishing high-quality academic and creative works. To ensure a smooth and efficient publishing process, we request authors to adhere to the following guidelines for submitting manuscripts.

1. General Submission Requirements

  1. Originality:

    • Submissions must be original and unpublished. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
    • Authors are responsible for ensuring the manuscript has not been submitted elsewhere for consideration.
  2. Language:

    • All submissions must be in English (or other languages, if specified for specific projects). Use clear, professional, and grammatically correct language.
  3. Formats Accepted:

    • File Format: Submit manuscripts in Word (.doc or .docx) or LaTeX format.
    • Font: Use Times New Roman, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing.
    • Margins: 1-inch margins on all sides.

2. Structure and Organization

  1. Title Page:

    • Title of the manuscript.
    • Full name(s) of the author(s) and their affiliations.
    • Contact details: Email, phone number, and mailing address.
    • ORCID ID (optional but encouraged).
  2. Abstract (for academic submissions):

    • Provide a 150–250-word abstract summarizing the content, objectives, and significance.
  3. Keywords:

    • List 5–7 keywords related to your manuscript.
  4. Main Text:

    • Use clear headings and subheadings for sections.
    • Number sections and subsections (e.g., 1, 1.1, 1.2).
    • Ensure all tables, figures, and images are appropriately captioned and referenced in the text.
  5. References:

    • Use APA, MLA, or Chicago style (as specified by the editor).
    • Include all cited works in a bibliography at the end.
  6. Appendices (if applicable):

    • Include supplementary material like data tables, additional readings, or explanatory notes.

3. Guidelines for Fiction Authors

  1. Manuscript Formatting:

    • Use standard chapter breaks.
    • Indent paragraphs; avoid extra spaces between paragraphs.
    • Clearly indicate scene breaks with asterisks (***) or a similar marker.
  2. Synopsis:

    • Submit a one-page synopsis summarizing the plot and major themes.
  3. Character Profiles (Optional):

    • Include brief descriptions of the main characters.

4. Permissions

  • Authors must obtain written permission for any copyrighted material (e.g., images, graphs, or extensive quotations).
  • Ensure proper credit is given for all sources and referenced materials.

5. Submission Process

  1. Online Submission:

    • Submit via Jotter Press Submission Portal.
  2. Review Process:

    • Submissions are reviewed within 4–6 weeks.
    • Authors may be asked to revise their work based on reviewer feedback.
  3. Accepted Submissions:

    • Once accepted, authors will be required to sign a publishing agreement.

6. Ethics and Conflicts of Interest

  • Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines for research and writing.

7. Post-Acceptance

  1. Proofreading:

    • Authors will receive proofs for review before publication. Minor corrections are allowed; major changes may not be accommodated.
  2. Marketing:

    • Authors are encouraged to provide a short bio (100 words) and a professional photo for promotional purposes.
